With each new change CMS undertakes, it becomes more difficult to manage all the intricacies of home health care. Episode reimbursement, quality measurement and the new Home Health Star Ratings are derived from your OASIS data, making accurate OASIS assessment and documentation an essential skill set. This workshop explains the key points of OASIS guidance, including the latest OASIS manual guidance for OASIS- D, the latest version of the CMS OASIS Q&A’s, and discusses assessment techniques to quickly and accurately gather information necessary to select the correct OASIS responses. There will be plenty of scenarios and documentation examples to clarify your questions on OASIS items, as well as OASIS best practices. OASIS-D brings further cross-settings standardization and changes the ways we answer key OASIS items, including pressure ulcers and medication regimen. Online registration is currently unavailable. Please contact us via email or phone for assistance.
OASIS education is essential to the future success of your agency. Is your episode reimbursement less than you expected? Are you working hard on your outcomes, but your quality reports show little improvement? Perhaps the “other” OASIS data items are hindering your progress. This program is not just training on the payment questions, but an in-depth analysis of all of the OASIS data items used for payment, quality outcomes and process measures, and risk adjustment. This workshop is intended to support the home health clinician's understanding and accuracy in OASIS data collection.
1. Identify three purposes of OASIS-D and data obtained from the collection of OASIS.
2. Recognize the importance of meeting OASIS time frame requirements.
3. Explain OASIS-D Conventions, including changes to the one clinician rule.
4. Identify key items changes in OASIS D including new GG and J items, deleted M items, and changes in guidance for existing M items.
5. Identify OASIS-D items important in process measurement and risk adjustment, and key changes in these areas.
6. Identify correct assessment strategies for answering Clinical, Functional, and Service Utilization data items.
7. Use an OASIS assessment to identify correct answers to data items.
8. Identify strategies for understanding the impact of OASIS-D items on risk adjustment, outcomes measurement, and future payment adjustments.
