This will be a Virtual Workshop

Program Overview:

This full-day workshop will provide an introduction to ICD-10-CM for coding professionals and clinicians looking to achieve proficiency in the coding system.  Coding professionals (or those looking to be coding professionals) looking to achieve proficiency in this system will find that this dynamic program provides a well-rounded knowledge base to every chapter in ICD-10-CM – you’ll get a great foundation in ICD-10-CM coding and its implications in home health practice.

ICD-10-CM accuracy is essential for survival in home care, especially with a new payment system, even more dependent on diagnosis codes, than the current PPS. ICD-10-CM is not for the weak and weary. There are lots of rules and the successful coder needs to know which rule to apply in each situation.

This program is for persons wanting to learn how to apply ICD-10 guidance to homecare and hospice claims correctly and accurately.  We will start with an introduction into the ICD-10-CM code set with ICD-10 conventions and sequencing guidelines. Attendees will have plenty of practice accessing the index in finding the codes, noting tabular list instructions, and then on to coding simple, common home health scenarios. The name of the game is learning and applying the rules and regulations for assigning diagnosis codes to an OASIS or hospice Plan of Care/claim.

Attendees will leave with a good foundation of the rules and an awareness of the need to improve documentation at intake and query physicians for more descriptive information, in addition to the ability to code simple cases using chapter-specific guidelines.

All participants must bring a coding manual!
