Program Overview:
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have proposed a changes to the Medicare Cost Report (Form CMS 1728-19). The proposed changes will effect data elements, financial reporting and statistical recordkeeping.
One large area that would change is how you identify timekeeping requirements for proper reporting for wage and hour and cost reporting purposes. This topic has become a large point of interest in recent months.

Program Objectives:

  • Explain the changes proposed by CMS to the Medicare Cost Report (Form CMS 1728-19) and identify new data reporting requirements.
  • Address initiatives to changes in financial reporting to capture the news data requirements for the revised cost report forms
  • Identify timekeeping requirements for proper reporting for wage and hour and cost reporting purposes.
All presenters have no conflict of interests in the topic matters being discussed.

About the Presenters:
David Macke, MBA, CHFP, FHFMA is director of reimbursement services for VonLehman & Company. He has extensive experience in Medicare cost reporting, including 9 years as a Medicare Auditor and 27 years preparing cost reports of all provider types, including hospices, home health agencies, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities. He is also responsible for reviewing proposed settlements by Medicare and Medicaid Intermediaries for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and rules

Elizabeth Zink-Pearson has served the needs of health care providers around the country. As a founding member of Pearson & Bernard, PSC in 1998, Liz brought her extensive experience in health law and employment law to the firm along with her characteristic informal, non-legal approach to problem-solving for clients in the ever-changing world of health care. Over the years, Liz’s practice expanded to include corporate organization, merger and acquisitions, and corporate compliance for health care providers. Consistent with the firm’s mission to counsel and educate clients, Ms. Pearson lectures frequently for state and national trade associations on many legal topics including Medicare compliance, Fraud and Abuse, Corporate Compliance, Employment Practices and Fair Labor Standards Act compliance.

RNs and LPNs must participate in the entire program in order for contact hours to be awarded. To apply for nursing contact hours, please return a completed evaluation form and a $10 processing fee for each individual requesting hours.
