Webinar #1: Risk Assessment - Tuesday, June 2, 2020
The home environment creates unique challenges to prevent pressure injuries and/or heal pressure injuries. This program will review what puts your clients at risk for pressure injuries and interventions and equipment needed to prevent and treat wounds in the home environment.

  • Identify risk factors that place a client at risk for pressure injury development or pressure injury decline.
  • Discuss the correlating interventions that will minimize, stabilize, or eliminate identified risk factors.  
  • Demonstrate how to utilize a risk assessment to ensure appropriate equipment and environment for the client to remain in the home
Webinar #2: Assessment & Staging of Pressure Injuries - Tuesday, June 9, 2020
Accurate assessment of a pressure injury is important as it evaluates the effectiveness of the overall course of treatment and determines the type of topical support needed. This course will provide the participant with the information needed to complete a comprehensive assessment of a pressure injury, including staging. This course will also discuss OASIS-D coding of the staging system.
  • Describe etiologies of pressure injuries.
  • Assess, describe, and document the physical characteristics of a pressure injury.
  • Identify the appropriate stage of the pressure injury.
Webinar #3: Topical Management of Pressure Injuries - Tuesday, June 16, 2020
Evidenced based principles of moist wound healing are presented in this session. Strategies for the identification and management of infection, and the debridement of slough and eschar will be addressed. Topical dressing categories are defined and their appropriate use discussed.
  • Define effective topical treatment strategies for pressure injuries, utilizing the principles of moist wound healing.
  • Discuss when debridement of pressure injuries is necessary and the different methods of wound debridement.
  • Describe signs and symptoms of pressure injuries infection and treatment options.
Webinar #4: Assessment & Treatment of Lower Extremity Ulcers - Tuesday, June 23, 2020
This session will help clinicians differentiate arterial insufficient ulcers, venous stasis ulcers and peripheral neuropathic/diabetic ulcers. The session will discuss how assessment and treatment strategies differ for each of these wound categories. It will discuss lymphedema identification and management. This session will also discuss which lower extremity ulcers are captured on OASIS-D.
  • Distinguish etiologies of lower extremity ulcers.
  • Define the characteristics of venous (stasis), arterial, and peripheral neuropathy/diabetic ulcers and lymphedema.
  • Describe effective strategies to manage lower extremity ulcers.

Presenter

Jeri Ann Lundgren, RN, BSN, APRN, PHN, CWS, CWCN, CPT has been working in Post-Acute Care since 1990, specializing in wound care nationally since 1994.  She is board certified as a CWS (Certified Wound Specialist) by the American Board of Wound Management and a CWCN (Certified Wound Care Nurse) by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Society.  Her CWCN certification designates her as an Advanced Practice Nurse specializing in wound management. Currently Ms. Lundgren is the President of Senior Providers Resource consulting firm.
